Re-affirmation of Elders & Deacons

Feedback Requested by December 13th

CONCERNING ELDERS

Today we are presenting for re-affirmation existing Elders Forrest Bjerkaas, Erin Doe, Chris Long, Joey Perot, and Craig Remlinger.

Concerning the reaffirmation of Elders per our Constitution:

“Since Scripture indicates no fixed term for Elders, the Elders of Redeemer have no specific fixed term of office. Instead, each Elder (except the Lead Pastor who is by definition an elder), upon appointment, shall be asked for a one year commitment, subject to review, recommitment, and re-affirmation by the Membership each subsequent year.” (Article III, Section 2.A.5)

As Lead Pastor, I’m so glad these men were by my side in 2020. Forrest, Erin, Chris, Joey and Craig have served our church family and me faithfully through a very difficult year. The year was like all others in many respects: overseeing ministry, praying for the body, teaching God’s Word, making various decisions, etc. But 2020 also had its added pressures. It started with a difficult staffing decision, included a long search for a new staff member (Mike Henry!), and of course involved (and still does) leading our church through the unprecedented times of COVID-19. It’s been quite a year for everyone in our church family. And through the ups and the downs and the twists and the turns these men have done well. I’m very thankful for them.

And, each one of these men desires to continue serving on Redeemer’s Elder Team throughout 2021.

CONCERNING DEACONS

Also we are presenting for re-affirmation existing Deacons Matt Williamson, Steve Drenth, John Stephens, and Andy Prather. Each of these men, too, hope to serve as Deacons in 2021.

Concnerning the re-affirmation of Deacons per our Constitution:

“Since Scripture indicates no fixed term for deacons, the deacons of Redeemer have no specific fixed term of office. Instead, each deacon, upon appointment, shall be asked for a commitment commensurate to the need. The deacon’s service is subject to review, recommitment, and re-affirmation by the Membership each subsequent year.”

Per our Constitution, we would like you (especially each adult member at Redeemer) to take the next two or three weeks to pray and provide feedback concerning these re-affirmations. After prayer, please fill out the Willingness to Follow Form on back and either (1) mail it back to the church office at 24201 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Katy, TX, 77494, or (2) bring it to church and put it in one of the giving boxes on either November 29, December 6, or December 13. (12:00 Noon, Sunday, December 13 is the date that all of this feedback is due). This might be easiest—you can also fill out this form online at redeemercommunity.life.

Thanks!

Pastor Mitch
